Sources: Ryan Kent rejects ‘big-money’ Rangers offer to agree deal with Premier League giants

Rangers star Ryan Kent has rejected a lucrative new contract offer as he sets his sights on a move to the Premier League, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old is out of contract next summer and talks over an extension have failed to secure an agreement.

It is believed Kent wants to follow Joe Aribo, who joined Southampton in the summer, back down south as he looks to run down his contract.

Should a Premier League offer fail to materialise, Kent has the option to extend with Rangers but he is confident of strong interest in the new year.

He will be able to join for a cut-price fee in January or, more likely, leave on a free transfer in the summer.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in September 2020 that Kent has a £20million release clause in his current contract.

That figure would represent the Ibrox club’s record sale, eclipsing the circa £16m they raked in from Nathan Patterson’s move to Everton last summer.

Kent has spent four-and-a-bit seasons with the Glasgow giants after signing from Liverpool, initially on loan, in the summer of 2018.

He has scored 30 goals and supplied 50 assists in 184 appearances in that time, with his 10 matches this season yielding three assists.

The Anfield academy product was a star player of the side that won the Scottish Premiership for the first time in a decade in 2020-21.

He was named the in PFA Scotland Team of the Year for his exploits that season, which included 13 goals and 15 assists.
