Kevin de Bruyne: Four clubs could now sign Man City star – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed a Saudi move for Man City star Kevin de Bruyne is now a “real option”.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed more “big names” will head to the Middle East this summer, with the Saudi Public Investment Fund set to back four more clubs in the Pro League.

Football Insider revealed in October 2023 that Saudi Arabian clubs were planning to offer Man City superstar De Bruyne a huge salary package.

The Belgium international has recently spoken out about the potential move, claiming he is “open to everything” and admitting he could earn “an incredible amount of money”.

De Bruyne is only under contract at Man City until June 2025.

Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez both left City for Saudi last summer (2023) and goalkeeper Ederson has also been linked with a move to the emerging footballing powerhouse in this transfer window.

De Bruyne could seal ‘incredible’ Man City exit, says Wyness

Wyness suggested Saudi clubs could become the “buyers of choice” in the era of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in the Premier League.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think Saudi Arabia could be a real option for the likes of De Bruyne.

“There are going to be another four clubs in the Saudi Pro League getting PIF backing, which would release more money for potential acquisitions.

“I do see it happening, some bigger names going down there this summer, it’s becoming a genuine alternative.

“The Saudi Pro League also want to get a younger age group. It’s a buyer’s market right now, and Saudi clubs could become the buyers of choice.

“I would expect some big names to go down there this summer.”
