Kieran Maguire: Chelsea on track to strike marquee deal soon
Chelsea will strike a new sleeve sponsorship deal before the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Chelsea’s search for sponsors this summer.
The Blues have been left without a sleeve sponsor since their agreement with WhaleFin was cut short in December 2022.
Chelsea struck a record-breaking £20million per season deal with the Cryptocurrency investment app in May 2022, but their partnership was terminated just seven months later after the company was forced to cut costs.
The Londoners are still yet to announce a new sleeve sponsorship ahead of the 2023/24 season, despite the imminent launch of their new kit.
However, Maguire believes Chelsea will strike a new sleeve sponsorship deal to replace WhaleFin before the start of the Premier League season.
“Chelsea are a huge brand with a big, global fan base concentrated in certain sort of niche markets,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“There will be a deal before the start of the season.
“I don’t think it will necessarily be as lucrative as the Stake deal, unless they find somebody else in that particular industry willing to sponsor them.
“But then that might actually cause friction with the front of shirt sponsor if you’ve got two people from broadly the same industry competing for attention.

“But yes, I do think Chelsea will have a deal provided they’re sensible on price.
“And that will add to their overall budget.“
