Kieran Maguire cites Liverpool ahead of ‘lucrative’ Rangers development
Kieran Maguire has revealed Rangers can make as much money from the Champions League group stages as they did from reaching the Europa League final last season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the finance expert said performance and matchday revenue will grow exponentially if Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side beat PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.
On Tuesday (16 August), the Gers drew 2-2 in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying play-off against PSV Eindhoven.
The winner of the two-legged tie will enter the Champions League group stages.
The loser will drop into the Europa League.
When asked by Football Insider how valuable qualification would be to Rangers, Maguire said:
“Rangers will make as much money from getting into the group stages of the Champions League as they did from getting to the final of the Europa League in regards to broadcast income.
“That means they have to do less to earn more.
“You get 2.8million euros for every victory in the Champions League but it’s only 800,000 in the Europa League.
“Rangers will not be one of the top two seeds in the Champions League group stages, were they to get there.

“If I was in the commercial department, I would want to be drawn against a Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG or Bayern Munich. If they were to come to Ibrox you could name your own price for the boxes and the premium seats.
“It will be more lucrative in terms of matchday income.”
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Rangers could open a ‘chasm’ in Scottish football as £30million deal close.
