Kieran Maguire claims Man City ‘not bulletproof’ as he shares update on FFP case
The 115 Financial Fair Play charges aimed at Man City could impact their treble achievement if found guilty.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about City’s looming financial charges after winning the treble.
City became just the second English team in history to complete the treble after beating Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final to complete the feat.
But off the pitch, City are still facing 115 charges from the Premier League for financial breaches spanning over nine years.
Maguire believes commercial partners will be eager to sign with City after the achievement and added that their financial case will likely last years before reaching a resolution.
“Manchester City as a brand are not bulletproof, but winning the treble and the joy they brought to large proportions of Manchester in the process can only be a further positive,” Maguire told Football Insider.
“They are a brand that commercial partners want to be associated with and the reason for that is that everyone wants their product next to the biggest of trophies and City have three of them.
“It makes them a very attractive proposition.

“There are no doubts that the 115 charges are being mentioned alongside the achievement, and this could hold back Man City.
“However, the case is likely to take a significant amount of time before reaching a resolution, until then, it’s innocent until proven guilty.“
