Kieran Maguire concerned by £20m Everton stadium news – this is down to Alisher Usmanov

It is ‘absolutely essential’ for Everton to move into Bramley Moore Dock as soon as possible after their revenue dropped to £170million.

That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the worrying revenue figures and matchday earnings at Everton.

The Toffees generated £170million in revenue last year according to Deloitte’s 2024 Money Football League – ranking them 30th in the world.

It marks a decrease on their revenue from 2022 when they generated £182million.

The Merseyside club are hoping to move into their new Bramley Moore Dock Stadium in 2025 with construction set to finish at the end of the year.

Maguire believes revenue from the new stadium is now ‘essential’ as the club is missing funds previously provided by Alisher Usmanov.

I think for a senior club such as Everton, their drop in revenue is indicative of their essential move to Bramley Moor Dock,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

They are historically generating less than £20million a year from matchday revenue at Goodison Park.

Goodison is a fantastic stadium in terms of history and heritage, but as a fan, it’s not a great experience.

And also in terms of maximising hospitality revenue, it is not adequate.

So I’m not surprised at the decrease in revenue because Everton also had the issue of having to sever ties with Alisher Usmanov’s empire – which was very generous towards Everton.
