Kieran Maguire: Daniel Levy told ‘there’s nothing to lose’ after Tottenham bid accepted
Daniel Levy should ‘swallow his pride’ and give the Tottenham Stadium a generic name for the Euro 2028 tournament.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Tottenham’s predicament when it comes to stadium naming rights.
Football Insider sources revealed on Tuesday (18 April) that Uefa will insist on having unbranded stadiums at Euro 2028 and have no plans to make an exception for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs have been working on a naming rights deal since moving into their new stadium in 2019.
The North London club are holding out for a premium £200million deal, with Amazon and Google previously holding talks over the rights.
Tottenham’s stadium was one of 10 included in the UK’s bid to host the 2028 Euros, but they now face uncertainty over the name of their ground.
Maguire believes Tottenham should follow the likes of Man City, who will allow their ground to be called the City of Manchester Stadium for the tournament.
“If Daniel Levy has any sense, he’ll realise that a short-term window in respect of the name of the new White Hart Lane is nothing to be concerned about,” Maguire told Football Insider.
“It will still be used by fans attending matches because of how long it has been around.

“So Levy should swallow his pride as there is little to be lost by giving it a generic name for the tenure of the 2028 Euro tournament.
“Of course, that is assuming that the bid is successful.“
