Kieran Maguire: Daniel Levy ‘worth every penny’ to Tottenham after record-breaking reveal

Daniel Levy’s record-breaking salary is ‘worth every penny’ to Tottenham because of his off-pitch success.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively discussed Levy’s value to Spurs in terms of commercial success.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Levy has become the highest-paid director in the Premier League with a salary of £3,265,000 per year.

That figure places him at the top of the table, £400,000 a year higher than second-placed Paul Barber – the CEO of Brighton.

Former Man United chief executive Ed Woodward previously topped the salary table for Premier League directors, but his departure from Old Trafford has left Levy at the top.

Maguire believes Levy has earned his salary through his commercial success in North London, but understands the frustration of supporters when it comes to the lack of on-pitch progress.

If you separate Tottenham in terms of what happens on the pitch and what happens off of it – Daniel Levy probably is worth every penny that he earns,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

He has created a stadium that will at the very least be in the top two in terms of matchday income in the UK.

They will be challenged for the top spot by Arsenal next season after they qualified for Europe.

The ability to sign commercial arrangements is very good, and the wage control is absolutely excellent

Tottenham, Daniel Levy

However, a cynic would argue that not having to pay bonuses for winning trophies or qualifying for Europe would contribute to that low wage bill.

On the pitch, however, there is a universal feeling from fans that Levy has not delivered in terms of progressing the club.”
