Kieran Maguire drops ‘£100m+’ Arsenal claim
Arsenal are on track to earn over £100million from matchday revenue because of their return to the Champions League.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Gunners won’t breach any Financial Fair Play regulations thanks to their jump in revenue.
The North London side posted a matchday income of £79.4million in their latest 2021/22 accounts, but that figure is expected to rise significantly after Arsenal secured their return to the Champions League last season.
Mikel Arteta’s side finished second in the Premier League, guaranteeing the club a spot in the Champions League group stage and a minimum of three extra home games in 2023/24.
Maguire expects the return of European nights at The Emirates to catapult Arsenal’s matchday revenue to the levels of Manchester United and Tottenham.
“Arsenal had almost reached the level of revenue received by Manchester United during the previous years in which the club was participating in the Champions League,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“They were frequently generating more than £100million a year from match-day income but that has fallen since the loss of Champions League football at The Emirates.
“They were in danger of being eclipsed by another club in North London.
“But this should propel Arsenal back into the £100million a year bracket for matchday income.

“That is critical from the perspective of not only being able to compete in the transfer and wage market, but also in terms of making sure that they fit within the financial fair play rules which have been brought in by Uefa.
“Those regulations won’t be breached if Arsenal are back in that high-income bracket.“
