Kieran Maguire drops ‘catastrophic’ Leeds United verdict after triple deal agreed
Leeds United will not suffer a ‘catastrophic’ drop in commercial revenue after signing three sponsorship agreements this summer.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Whites remain an ‘attractive’ club to sponsors despite their relegation to the Championship.
While Leeds have so far been quiet in the transfer window, the Yorkshire side have already signed three major sponsorship deals ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
They renewed and expanded their deal with Boxt to transition from the club’s sleeve sponsor to their principal partner and front-of-shirt sponsor next season.
Leeds also struck deals with Flamingo Land as their new sleeve sponsor and AMT Auto as their secondary shirt partner.
Maguire believes Leeds are one of the biggest teams in the EFL this season and therefore remain attractive to sponsors and broadcasters.
“Sponsorship deals in the Championship are worth around a tenth of what you hope to earn in the Premier League,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“However, Leeds United have always been the biggest fish in the EFL pool over the last 20 years.
“It will be a significant step down in terms of money generated compared to what they could negotiate in the Premier League.
“But, if you look at Leeds United’s commercial income when last in the Championship, it was still more than around half of the clubs in the Premier League.

“They continue to be an attractive proposition and sponsors know that broadcasters are desperate to have Leeds shown live as it generates good viewing numbers
“So while Leeds’ commercial figures will take a step down, it is not catastrophic.“
