Kieran Maguire drops verdict on Sam Allardyce clause amid ‘£100m’ Leeds United claim

Sam Allardyce could save Leeds United more than £100million if he keeps them in the Premier League this season.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the survival reward within Allardyce’s contract.

Leeds decided to sack Javi Gracia after just two months in charge, opting to appoint Allardyce with just four games remaining in the season.

The Times report that Allardyce is set to earn £3million if he is able to survive relegation at Elland Road.

The Whites are two points away from survival with three games remaining, with fixtures against Newcastle United, West Ham and Tottenham on the horizon.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizanni is set to sell the club to the 49ers Enterprises this summer, but the takeover price is set to be slashed to £150million if relegated.

Maguire believes survival will be crucial to both Leeds and Radrizzani to maximise the value of the club’s sale this summer.

If Leeds United stay up thanks to Allardyce then it’s money well spent,” Maguire told Football Insider.

It will hugely benefit the football club itself by guaranteeing Premier League revenues for next season.

And despite the parachute payments, it will still be worth north of £100million for a club such as Leeds to stay in the division.

“It will also help owner Andrea Radrizzani in terms of his asking price for the club.

It’s well-known that he’s looking for an exit route and the amount he could potentially receive will multiply if they stay up.
