Kieran Maguire: Everton FFP charges ‘far from over’ amid ‘huge’ claim

The chances of Everton fighting their Financial Fair Play charges have been increased by the independent commission delaying their decision.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the latest updates to Everton’s financial charges.

In March, the Toffees were charged with breaching Financial Fair Play regulations last season with a points deduction a strong possibility if found guilty.

Their case was referred to an independent commission, but this site’s sources understand a decision is now unlikely to be made until the end of the season.

Everton recorded losses over the last three years of £371.8million and face the threat of relegation this season, while the club is also busy financing the construction of their new Bramley Moore Dock stadium.

Maguire believes a delay in the decision to Everotn’s charges will grant ‘huge relief’ to Sean Dyche, who can now focus solely on keeping the club in the Premier League.

The independent commission taking its time over the charges at Everton will be welcomed in two ways,” Maguire told Football Insider.

First of all, it is a huge relief for Sean Dyche to focus with a greater degree of certainty when it comes to planning for individual matches – likewise for Everton’s opponents.

Secondly, It also suggests that this is far from over and that we’re not looking at an open-and-shut case in regard to the charges.

Therefore, this could potentially increase Everton’s chances of successfully defending their position.
