Kieran Maguire: Everton takeover hit by crushing new blow

Everton takeover faces fresh blow after new comments emerge about prospective owners 777 Partners

It is ‘impossible’ to find a positive endorsement of 777 Partners as they wait for Premier League approval of their Everton takeover.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the comments made towards 777 Partners by a club CEO.

Standard Liege Chief Executive Pierre Locht was asked this week about the club’s ownership situation with concerns growing about 777 Partners.

Locht told media that he has ‘doubts’ over 777 Partners and their ownership with the Belgian club battling relegation this season.

The US group agreed to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in Everton in September but they are still waiting for Premier League approval for the takeover to be completed.

Maguire slammed 777 Partners CEO Josh Wander for his ‘smug attitude’ and predicted that there is more negative news about the US investors still to come.

“It’s impossible to find anybody who has given a positive endorsement of 777 Partners,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

Josh Wander has not helped himself at times with his rather smug attitude towards getting lots of lawsuits.

He’s supposed to be the leader of a professional organisation and make sure that they are not facing a constant line of distractions and negative stories.

It has an impact upon the brand, it has an impact upon their reputation and it has an impact upon the perceived level of risk.

It means that there will be fewer and fewer parties willing to be associated with them and lend them money.

I’m not surprised to see these comments and I think we can only expect to see more of them in due course.
