Kieran Maguire: Everton takeover hit by new blow after Newcastle United player reveal

There are new concerns over 777 Partners Everton takeover after Isaac Hayden complained about unpaid wages at Standard Liege.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire who exclusively told Football Insider that the Premier League has an obligation to ‘protect Everton and their fans’ after more concerns over 777’s source of funding.

As reported by The Athletic, former Newcastle United midfielder Hayden says he is taking legal action after his wages were unpaid by 777-owned Standard Liege.

The US group are still awaiting confirmation from the Premier League over their majority takeover of the Merseyside club after striking a deal with Farhad Moshiri in September.

However, concerns over their source of funding have delayed the confirmation with 777 facing multiple lawsuits.

Maguire believes that 777 Partners have failed to provide enough information to convince the Premier League otherwise the deal would already be confirmed.

While Isaac Hayden’s situation and his unpaid wages is not directly related to 777’s potential acquisition of Everton football club, it is indicative of increasing concerns over their ownership.

They seem to be playing a game of chicken when it comes to paying bills and their financial obligations.

The Premier League would have approved the deal by now if 777 had managed to provide the appropriate information in regards to the source of funds and the availability of funds.

The fact this key data has not been provided means the Premier League has an obligation to protect Everton and their fans.
