Kieran Maguire: Glazers will abandon ‘£250m’ Ratcliffe plan after Man United source’s reveal
The Glazer family will not contribute any cash towards Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new £250million training ground plans at Man United.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Glazers have shown since 2005 that they are not prepared to put any money into the club.
As revealed by Football Insider, Ratcliffe has fast-tracked plans to build a new state-of-the-art training complex at Man United following his first visit to Carrington.
Ratcliffe has set aside £250million for infrastructure investment at United following his minority takeover at Old Trafford.
According to the Daily Mail, United have already held talks with local golf clubs as they search for an ideal location for a new training complex.
Despite owning just 25 percent of the club’s shares, Maguire believes the Glazers will abandon Ratcliffe and leave him to cover the entire costs of a new training ground.
If Ratcliffe is unable to foot the bill, Maguire expects that the British billionaire will have to add to United’s growing debt levels.
“There are two hopes of the Glazers contributing towards a £250million upgrade for Manchester United’s training facilities – slim and none and slim is out of town,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

“If Jim Ratcliffe is not in a position to fund all of this himself, what we’re likely to see is an increase in Manchester United’s already significant level of borrowings.
“The Glazers have shown from the day that they acquired the club in 2005 that the one thing they’re not prepared to do is to put money into Manchester United. This is a huge issue.“
