Kieran Maguire issues Everton ‘chaos’ claim after £500m stadium U-turn
The lack of clarification around the stadium funding at Everton highlights the “chaos” in the boardroom at Goodison Park.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Everton’s U-turn in financing their Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
Last year, The Independent reported that Everton’s new stadium situated at the Bramley-Moore Dock had a fixed construction fee of £500million.

However, Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri has recently claimed that the stadium build could cost the club as much as £760million in an interview with talkSPORT.
The new 52,888-capacity stadium is scheduled to be completed before the start of the 2024/25 season.
Moshiri recently stated that Everton are “very close” to securing funding for stadium construction.
Maguire believes the confusion around stadium pricing and the constant “rotating door” of managerial appointments at Goodison Park suggests the board is incoherent.
“I don’t think there’s a huge amount of surprise about the chaos at Everton,” Maguire told Football Insider.
“The way the club is behaving at present appears to echo that in terms of their funding and stadium cost.
“We were told originally the stadium cost was fixed but now it’s supposedly not.

“The rotating door policy in terms of managerial appointments also indicates that as a club they have no coherent plan in the boardroom or at the senior decision-making level.
“This is further evidence of exactly that.“
