Kieran Maguire issues ‘huge’ Man United claim as £238m+ deal tipped

Kieran Maguire expects Man United to begin “negotiations” with parties interested in sponsoring their shirt next year.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the finance expert claimed the club will not struggle to find a partner willing to match TeamViewers deal because they are “a huge global brand”.

In their second quarter statement (3 August), TeamViewer confirmed they would not be renewing their £47.5million-a-year deal with the Red Devils.

The two put pen to paper on a five-year contract worth £237.5million in March 2021, but after just one season TeamViewer has decided the agreement is not delivering a full return on investment.

The Premier League giants were previously sponsored by American car company Chevrolet.

When asked by Football Insider if United would be able to secure a deal of similar value if on-field struggles continue, Maguire said: “This is TeamViewer’s error rather than that of Man United.

“United are still a huge global brand who have incredible appeal in certain markets.

“While they might be second to Liverpool in the US, they are still second. It is not as if they are twelfth.

“I do not see this as being an issue. It will not damage them.

Man United fans are growing tired

“Negotiations will start taking place next year of the year after. People will start planning ahead.

“Will they be able to match the Chevrolet deal? That is open to question. If Erik ten Hag turns thing around on the pitch £47.5million would look cheap.”
