Kieran Maguire issues ‘very important’ Arsenal claim after £50m+ deal agreed

Sponsors are ‘desperate’ to be associated with Arsenal again after their recent success and return to the Champions League.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Gunners’ new Emirates deal reinforces their position as a ‘big hitter’ in the Premier League.

Arsenal confirmed earlier this month that they extended their front-of-shirt deal with Emirates until 2028, continuing their partnership which was first formed in 2006.

Football Insider revealed that the new version of the deal is worth £50million a season, drawing the North London side level with Liverpool’s Standard Chartered agreement.

Mikel Arteta’s side followed up their title challenge in 2022/23 by spending close to £200million on Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.

Maguire believes deals such as this Emirates agreement ‘sends out a signal’ that Arsenal will continue to compete with their rivals in the transfer market.

It’s a very important deal,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

It reinforces the view that Arsenal are one of the big hitters as far as the Premier League is concerned.

They had dropped significantly behind the other clubs in terms of spending from 2016 onwards, and their wage bill was around £150million lower than the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

So I think this does send out a signal that they’re going to continue to be competitive in terms of player recruitment

It also proves that they are still very popular as far as sponsors are concerned.

They are desperate to have their logo and brand associated with a club that is now back playing in the Champions League.
