Kieran Maguire: Liverpool could now accept offer for their own ‘Cole Palmer’

FSG will view Liverpool academy stars as ‘commodities’ and could look to cash in on their own ‘Cole Palmer’ after their values soared in recent weeks.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that monetising academy stars is a strategy well used by Premier League rivals Man City and Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp was forced to rely on a number of young academy graduates in recent weeks due to the ongoing injury crisis at Anfield.

The Reds fielded an extremely young squad against Chelsea in the League Cup final and against Southampton in the FA Cup – where all three goals were scored by young duo Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns.

Liverpool’s youngsters stole the headlines for their success, and their market values have soared as a result.

Liverpool owners FSG could now cash in on academy stars

Football Insider ranked the top 10 youngsters at Liverpool with Harvey Elliott, Conor Bradley and Jayden Danns all making the list.

Homegrown talents provide pure profit towards club accounts so Maguire explained that Liverpool can ‘capitalise’ on their academy success if they choose to sell.

The Liverpool youngsters are achieving their dreams and aspirations of playing for the football club,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

But from an FSG point of view, they are commodities and are treated as such.

What has happened as a result of the recent success in the cup competitions is that the value of Liverpool’s youngsters has soared.

If we look at Manchester City and Chelsea, they have monetised their academy route more than any other clubs in the Premier League.

Cole Palmer was sold for £40million, Levi Colwill got a huge contract after a loan move.

Liverpool

Liverpool will be feeling very confident that should there be interest in some of these younger players – they can capitalise on that.

They have players able to generate top value and these players will be worth more because they’ve got the Liverpool crest on their CV.
