Kieran Maguire: Man City working on ‘global phenomenon’ deal amid source’s talks reveal

City Football Group are likely working on commercial deals to make their network a “global phenomenon” and not one solely limited to Man City.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest news from behind the scenes at the multi-club empire.

A source told Football Insider on Tuesday (20 December) that representatives from City Football Group, who now owns 12 clubs worldwide, recently held a summit with South American broadcast chiefs.

The substance of the talks is not known, but City Football Group do have a strong South American presence through Uruguayan outfit Montevideo Torque and their recent acquisition of historic Brazilian side Bahia.

Maguire suggests that the group may now be looking to bring the same media strategies that have brought them success with Man City to South America.

Following the success of the Amazon All or Nothing documentary series, City Football Group might try to expand this,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“They may want the group to become more of a global phenomenon in terms of the links between the clubs.

“They are always aiming for a more joined-up approach when it comes to philosophy and culture.

They want to bring success not just to the mothership in England but also to other parts of the network, both in Europe and beyond.

I think seeing how that plan develops could be an interesting watch for viewers.
