Kieran Maguire: New £15m Arsenal deal to have big FFP impact – ‘there is no downside’

Arsenal have full agreement over deal worth minimum £15million and potentially over £60m

There is ‘no downside’ to the £15million deal between Arsenal and Sobha as it will help the club’s Financial Fair Play situation.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Arsenal’s latest sponsorship agreement with the Dubai-based company.

As revealed by Football Insider, Arsenal are set to earn over £15million per season from their long-term deal with Sobha.

The Gunners announced the agreement with the real-estate company on Friday (2 February) with Sobha set to own the naming rights to their training ground while also sponsoring their training kits.

The £15million per season value makes it Arsenal’s third-most lucrative sponsorship deal behind their Adidas and Emirates agreements.

Maguire believes the latest Arsenal deal will please the club’s accountants while also avoiding any anger from fans.

When it comes to modern football, everything and anything is up for sale as far as the club’s history and heritage is concerned,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

Arsenal striking a naming rights deal for their training facilities will help in terms of increasing revenue and increasing flexibility in terms of their Financial Fair Play position.

So there is no downside to this deal.

“It won’t concern the fans because they don’t have any emotional attachment to the name of the training facilities and it will also keep the accountants very happy.
