Kieran Maguire questions Premier League plan as Newcastle chief Amanda Staveley lands news job
Newcastle United chief Amanda Staveley recently joined the Premier League’s internal broadcast and access working group, but their plans for improved media access face a “limited market”.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Staveley’s plans to enhance player access within the Premier League.
It was reported by the Daily Mail that Newcastle executive Staveley joined the Premier League’s new internal broadcast and access working group.

The Rights, Access and Facilities Framework (RAFF) group has been assembled to assess Premier League media, including broadcaster access to managers and players.
Football Insider sources revealed on Tuesday (7 March) that Premier League clubs are exploring alternative ways to offer value to TV companies amid a reluctance from managers to grant broadcasters behind-the-scenes access.
Maguire believes the craze of sports documentaries and behind-the-scenes access has a “limited” audience and doesn’t guarantee success or revenue.
“I think that from the perspective of many clubs, they have seen the success of documentary formats in other sports such as Drive to Survive with Formula 1,” Maguire told Football Insider.
“The Premier League and its clubs are aware of the enthusiasm around that kind of coverage and that there has been success with this covering football too.

“Previous formats have broadly been beneficial, but ultimately there’s also a limited market for this.
“So I don’t think this would move the dial.“
