Kieran Maguire savages Moshiri as Everton hit by new transfer blow – ‘he’s washed his hands of the club’
Everton will struggle to complete contract extensions or new transfers as Farhad Moshiri has ‘washed his hands of the club’ since their points deduction.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about whether Everton will struggle to complete deals on and off the pitch after their second PSR charge.
The Toffees have already been deducted 10 points in November for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, and they now face a second charge after publishing their 2022-23 accounts.
A second points deduction – if found guilty – could plunge Everton into a relegation fight and therefore affect their transfer business this month and in the summer.
Maguire believes Everton do not have enough ‘certainty’ over their future to decide a budget for their contract and transfer deals.
“If Everton had more certainty, they would have a greater ability to come up with budgets and strategies,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“However, they have been left in a very confusing position, with one points deduction already given to the club and the potential for another if the commission finds them guilty.
“That will likely take place before the end of the 2023-24 season.

“Given that contracts will be expiring and up for negotiation, it really makes it very difficult for the senior management and also for players to commit to a long-term future.
“And with so much uncertainty surrounding the approach taken by the Premier League and the club’s ownership situation, it looks increasingly likely that Farhad Moshiri has washed his hands of the club.“
