Kieran Maguire: Shahid Khan will ignore Fulham protests amid ‘£1m-a-week’ reveal
Fulham owner Shahid Khan will ignore fan protests over ticket prices after spending ‘£1million per week’ to get the club promoted to the Premier League.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the ongoing protests at Craven Cottage over ticket prices.
Fulham fans decided to boycott their FA Cup clash against Newcastle United last month to protest the club’s rising ticket prices.
The Cottagers reportedly failed to sell as many as 7,000 tickets for the cup clash as fans tried to catch the attention of club owner Shahid Khan.
Maguire believes Khan will choose to ignore the protests as he is instead focused on attracting tourist fans and hospitality crows to Craven Cottage.
“Fulham fans have been complaining for a period of time about the increased prices being charged by the club this season,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“There’s been no concern shown by owner Shahid Khan so far and so it’s unlikely that their latest protest will make him take notice.
“It cost Fulham more than £1million per week to get promoted to the Premier League and Khan will point out that it was his financial benevolence that allowed them to get there.
“We’ve seen him try to buy Wembley Stadium a few years ago, and there was a fair chance that Fulham might have moved there as a result of that.

“He will point out that Fulham currently have a small capacity stadium, but are in a swanky part of London that can attract tourist fans and hospitality crowds.
“Khan will be more concerned with pleasing them than the regular Fulham supporters who have been with the club through thick and thin.“
