Kieran Maguire shares view on Eddie Howe compensation fee as Newcastle plot manager swap
Newcastle United will have no problems paying Eddie Howe’s compensation fee to sack him despite their FFP issues.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Newcastle’s improved commercial revenue will allow them to spend money on Howe’s compensation fee.
As revealed by Football Insider, Newcastle’s owners want ‘world domination’ and eventually want to recruit a global name as manager.

Sources have also told Football Insider that Newcastle interest in Roma manager Jose Mourinho is “concrete” as they eye a potential manager change.
Howe relieved pressure on his job this week with a 3-0 win over rivals Sunderland in the FA Cup, but the Tyneside club have won just one of their past five league games and have slumped down to ninth in the table.
Maguire believes it would be ‘harsh’ to sack Howe this season but insists Newcastle have funds available to replace their manager without breaching FFP.
“I don’t think that compensation will be an issue for Newcastle United in terms of their ability to pay,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“I think the club will have to box clever in terms of their compliance with Financial Fair Flay, but they were aware of that anyway.
“Newcastle are still very much in the top half of the Premier League and last season they overperformed and they caught a bit of a hangover with the additional schedule demands that comes with the Champions League.
“So it would be harsh to sack Eddie Howe under such circumstances, especially given that he doesn’t have his best players available to him.
“But Newcastle will have enough FFP flexibility to do so if they wanted.

“With the additional money from the Champions League, funds from player sales such as Saint-Maximin and increased commercial revenue, they could pay Howe’s compensation if that’s the route they go down.
“But Howe is a very decent person, so I hope that’s not the case.“
