Kieran Maguire: Sheikh Mansour well placed to sell Man City for big profit

Man City have helped the value of the City Football Group reach £5billion by winning the treble this season.

That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the value of City’s multi-club network.

As per The Times, City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak claimed that the City Football Group is the ‘number one football brand in the world’.

He added that the valuation of the City Football Group has risen to over $6billion (£4.7billion) thanks to the group’s success.

Maguire agreed with Al-Mubarak’s assessment of CFG and praised the network for being ‘very smart’ in how it operates.

“If we take a look at the prices paid by Silver Lake, who bought a 10% stake in Manchester City, it probably valued them at around about £5billion at the time,” Maguire told Football Insider.

I think you could argue that with the continued success domestically, and the Champions League win, that overall that value has increased.

They’ve now also got a footprint in Manchester, Melbourne, Mumbai, New York and so on.

CFG being worth £6billion – I don’t have an issue with that whatsoever – the way that CFG has been run is very, very smart.

People will point to the significant losses made by Manchester City, especially in the early years of ownership by Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Mansour.

But if a sale took place today, they would be quids in, in terms of the exit price compared to what they’ve paid.
