Kieran Maguire shreds ‘chaotic’ Todd Boehly as £40m Chelsea deal stalls
Chelsea have left it late again to strike a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal because of Todd Boehly’s “chaotic” management style.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that it doesn’t reflect well that Chelsea have been signing one-year sponsorship deals under Boehly.
The Blues started the 2023-24 season without a front-of-shirt sponsor after failing to strike an agreement before the start of the Premier League season.
Chelsea eventually partnered with US-based Infinite Athlete in a deal worth £40million per season.
The initial deal with Infinite Athlete planned to demote them to a sleeve sponsor for the 2024-25 season but the London club have failed to find a new shirt sponsor and now risk starting another season with a blank shirt.
As revealed by Football Insider, Chelsea are now in advanced talks with Infinite Athlete to continue their front-of-shirt agreement over the 2024-25 campaign.
Chelsea running out of time for £40m deal under ‘chaotic’ Boehly
Maguire believes that Chelsea may be struggling to strike a sponsorship deal because they have an “inflated sense of worth” under Boehly.
“I suspect Chelsea under Todd Boehly have perhaps had an inflated sense of worth in terms of their value,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Especially as it looked very unlikely throughout much of the season that they would have the opportunity to get back into Europe.
“The fact that they have been signing one-year deals doesn’t reflect well – it’s very much a stop gap.

“Nobody seems to know how Infinite Athlete have managed to fund this particular deal and so we’re left with more questions than answers.
“It sums up the chaotic management style that we have seen at Stamford Bridge under Boehly.“
