Kieran Maguire slams ‘terrible’ deal not liked by Leeds United
Leeds United and their EFL allies will suffer financially due to the ‘terrible’ distribution deal offered by the Premier League.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the EFL will likely accept reduced terms for a distribution deal as many lower-league clubs are losing money on a day-to-day basis.
As reported by Sky News, the Premier League have halted talks over the ‘New Deal’ to distribute more funds to the EFL.

The deal in place is set to provide £881million to the rest of the football pyramid but it must be voted by 14 of the Premier League’s clubs.
Premier League clubs have been asked to help provide a £44million up-front payment as part of the agreement, but many top-flight sides are reluctant to provide funds.
Clubs in the EFL, such as Leeds, have shown opposition to the ‘New Deal’ agreement but are in no position to negotiate terms.
Maguire believes talks being paused represents the greed of the Premier League and insists that the EFL is under pressure to strike a deal due to clubs not currently making a profit.
“The Premier League is the greatest league in the world,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Sadly, it’s also the greediest league in the world.
“The trouble with greed is that you don’t look after those who are less lucky than yourself.
“So the New Deal is a terrible deal for the EFL, but it’s better than no deal and therefore, they are accepting it with reluctance and a heavy heart.
“It allows the Premier League to dictate how EFL clubs should be run.

“The Premier League are putting huge pressure on clubs that are losing money on a day-to-day basis and therefore the EFL will reluctantly probably agree to it.
“But the Premier League is now increasingly confident that it will be able to extract further concessions from EFL clubs and make life harder for them because it ideally wants a Premier League of 24 or 25 clubs so that if you are relegated, you get recycled back into the Premier League after a season.“
