Kieran Maguire tips club to match Burnley after deal agreed

Other clubs may look to sign front-of-shirt sponsors for their junior kits after Burnley agreed a deal with YouTube group DudePerfect.

That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the Clarets’ partnership with the US-based online group.

On Tuesday (11 July), Burnley announced they had signed a sponsorship deal to become the official shirt partner for the Club’s 2023/24 Junior, Infant, Babies retail kit and academy kit.

The YouTube group have 59.5 million subscribers on the video platform and specialise in sports and entertainment content.

The sponsorship deal will run alongside Burnley’s deal with gambling company W88 which is set to appear on the first team shirt.

Maguire praised the deal and believes other clubs could follow Burnley into partnerships with content creators, especially for junior kit sponsors.

Because clubs are not allowed to advertise gambling because of its social harm on shirts for kids, It does effectively mean that kids’ shirts are essentially a blank billboard,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

The decision made by Burnley to partner with Dude Perfect does make a lot of sense in that sense.

“The club will get extra money from the deal and the kids feel as though they have their own personal space that they can interact with.

I do think it’s a very smart move by the club and I expect other clubs to follow the trend.
