Kieran Tierney breaks social media silence with ‘amazing’ Arsenal message
Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has posted on social media for the first time since June to thank the fans after making his return in their 3-2 League Cup win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday (December 18).
The 27-year-old has missed all of Arsenal’s 25 games across all competitions after picking up a hamstring injury while on international duty with Scotland in their short-lived Euro 2024 campaign.
Tierney made his long-awaited return as Mikel Arteta’s side progressed to the League Cup semi-finals thanks to Gabriel Jesus’ second-half hattrick.
The left-back played 69 minutes before being replaced by young Myles Lewis-Skelly, ending his game having made three recoveries, won 100 per cent of his ground and aerial duels, and two accurate crosses.
Kieran Tierney glad to get back out there in Arsenal win over Crystal Palace
Tierney spent last season on loan at Spanish side Real Sociedad, where he made 26 appearances across all competitions, scoring zero goals, and providing two assists in 1483 minutes of action.
He’s now back with Arsenal, taking to Instagram to commemorate his first appearance of the season, saying: “Feels amazing to be back out at the Emirates! Thank you so much for the reception… always grateful. Onto the semis.”

The defender’s return couldn’t have come at a better time for Arsenal, with Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Takehiro Tomiyasu all out injured.
Mikel Arteta’s side dropped two Premier League points in a frustrating 0-0 draw with Sean Dyche’s struggling Everton side, leaving them four behind Chelsea and six points behind league leaders Liverpool as they prepare for a second game with Palace on Saturday (December 21).
