Kieran Tierney has revealed Celtic captain Scott Brown has proved to be a large influence on his career as a professional footballer.

Tierney, 19, continues to prove he is one of the brightest prospects to be produced in Scotland in recent times, as he remains Brendan Rodgers’ undisputed first-choice left-back.

In a Q & A on Celtic’s official Twitter account, the young left-back replied to a fan by naming Hoops captain “Broony” as the player to have proved the most influential on his career so far.

Despite breaking his ankle in training this season, Tierney has been one of Celtic’s star players this term as they continue to dominate the Scottish Premiership.

Scoring just his second career goal on Saturday against Inverness during the Bhoys 6-0 Scottish Cup win, Celtic’s number 63 has provided quality in both defence and attack.

Having a hand in 11 goals this season from left-back, Tierney has scored once and provided another 10 strikes in assists against the likes of Manchester City, Rangers and Hearts.

Remaining strong in defence despite his tendency to get forward, Celtic’s academy graduate has played a part in his side keeping 10 clean sheets during his 25 league and cup outings this term.

Brown, who has 50 caps for Scotland, has a huge 402 appearances to his name with the 47-time Scottish champions and that kind of influence has worked wonders on Tierney so far.

The duo are likely to line up together on Saturday as Celtic return to league duty against Motherwell at Parkhead, with the chance to go 30 points clear at the top.

In other Celtic news, this 24-year-old is the most skillful player at Celtic according to Tierney.
