Kinnear shares how many new Leeds signings expected before Bolton clash

By Harry Sykes

Leeds United managing director Angus Kinnear has revealed that the club are not expecting to seal any more transfers before Sunday’s Championship opener against Bolton.

Kinnear told BBC Radio Leeds in a live session on on Tuesday night that manager Thomas Christiansen is set to begin the new season with the squad already at his disposal.

United have been strongly linked with a number of new targets as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Christansen has admitted he is in the market for more defenders, with the centre-back and left-back positions in particular need of reinforcement, and there have been reports that the club also want to sign a new striker.

But Kinnear said there is “not likely” to be any new arrivals before Leeds face Bolton Wanderers in their Championship opener on Sunday, as quoted by the White Knight Twitter account, which posted updates of the executive’s quotes while being interviewed at Billy’s Bar in Leeds.

The Yorkshire giants have signed 10 new players this summer, which have included eight new arrivals as well as 2016-17 loanees Hadi Sacko and Pontus Jansson.

However, there have also been some high-profile exits, with Charlie Taylor joining Burnley for £7million last month and centre-back Kyle Bartley returning to parent club Swansea.

Football Insider revealed on Monday that Leeds have ramped up their interest in Joe Bryan, regarded as one of the best left-backs in the Championship, and a £5million double bid has now been lodged for two players wanted by the club.

In other Leeds transfer news, a left-back has headed to Elland Road as he aims to secure a permanent transfer from top-flight club.
