Kris Boyd claims Celtic mainstay Tierney is ‘obsessed with Rangers’

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has taken a huge swipe at Celtic mainstay Kieran Tierney.

Boyd, writing in his column in the Scottish Sun, claims that Tierney is ‘obsessed’ with Rangers and winning ten titles in a row, like most other Hoops fans are.

Even though, as reported by the Scottish Sun, Atletico Madrid are set to send a scout to the Scottish Cup Final to watch Tierney, Boyd believes that he won’t leave the Hoops until they win their tenth title in a row.

“Kieran Tierney is just like every other Celtic fan in the world right now. . .obsessed with Rangers.

“Atletico Madrid are sending a scout to Hampden to watch the left-back in action in the Scottish Cup final.

“They’re wasting their time. The way I see it, Tierney will be going nowhere until he either wins a tenth consecutive title or Rangers stop Celtic doing it.”

Tierney has had another stellar season for the Bhoys, and has been a mainstay for the Bhoys, making 54 appearances so far this season.

Football Insider verdict

Boyd is probably correct about Tierney not leaving the Hoops yet, but that might be more down to his love of the club rather than anything to do with winning 10 titles in a row. It has to be said though that the Bhoys could well be tempted to sell Tierney if the club are offered a ridiculously large amount of money, but the reaction from the club’s support would be so vehement that it seems unlikely that the player will be sold anytime soon. It does seem unrealistic that Tierney will spend all of his career with the Hoops, but at only 20-years-old the scope is there for him to spend at least another three seasons with the club, as if he continues to play at the level he has been playing at since he joined the Hoops then there is no doubt that clubs will still be interested in signing the player, as he is one of the best to come out of Scotland in many years.
