La Liga expert tips Liverpool to complete ‘superb’ Gavi signing after £41.7m Spanish update
Kevin Campbell has claimed Barcelona starlet Gavi would be a “superb signing” for Liverpool.
The former Arsenal striker, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, was speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 17-year-old.
According to Sport (19 January), Gavi is wanted by English sides Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool – as well as German giants Bayern Munich.
The report claims the youngster’s Barcelona release clause is set at €50million (£41.7million) as talks over a contract renewal continue.
Campbell claimed Liverpool could “mould and nurture” the youngster if they were to bring him to Anfield.
“He’s another home-grown talent at Barcelona,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“Gavi also has a bit about him as well, he’s got a real tough streak.
“Going out and buying top players will be difficult for Liverpool because top players want to play week-in, week-out.
“But if you’re getting a youngster in who you can mould and nurture, such as Gavi – wow, it would be a superb signing for them.”
Gavi’s current deal at Camp Nou expires at the end of next season.
The 17-year-old already boasts four Spain caps after making his senior debut for Luis Enrique in October 2021.
The midfielder has played 25 times for the Blaugrana this term, scoring one and assisting three more.

Liverpool sit second in the Premier League and are 11 points adrift of leaders Man City with a game in hand.
Jurgen Klopp’s side face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
