Lawrence Shankland will be ‘top scorer in the league at Rangers’ after record offer – pundit
Hearts will sell Lawrence Shankland in the summer amid frequent links with a move to Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie was convinced that the Scotsman will depart the Edinburgh side as he wants to challenge for silverware.
Shankland has rejected two record-breaking offers from Hearts and it has since been confirmed that he will not be extending his contract.
Rangers have been long-term admirers of the Scotland international, with Football Insider revealing (4 February) that they are plotting a swoop for the striker in the summer after he turned Hearts down.
McAvennie claimed he has “no doubt” that Shankland would be a success at Ibrox and was adamant that if Hearts’ valuation is met, he will be sold.
“He’s been offered big money at Hearts but he’s not signing a deal,” he told Football Insider.
“Hearts will sell him in the summer.
“The only problem Hearts have got is that he might down tools for the rest of the season.
“Players can be like that. I’m not saying Shankland will, but sometimes it can get to you and you wish you’d moved.
“Hopefully it won’t put him off scoring because he deserves a big move.
“Not that Hearts aren’t a good club, but he wants to challenge for trophies.

“Someone like Shankland will be the top scorer in the league if he goes to Rangers, I have no doubt.
“Hearts will have a figure for Shankland. If someone meets it, he’s gone.”
