League One postponement latest as Met Office issue weather warning: Cardiff vs Barnsley among fixtures at risk
Several League One games are at risk of postponement on Tuesday after a warning was issued for much of the south of the UK.
Plymouth Argyle’s clash with Luton faced the risk of postponement on Saturday, but the game ultimately went ahead with the Pilgrims emerging victorious.
Cardiff City hosted Stockport County on Saturday in a clash that ended 1-1, but that game could have been called off, as well.
Grounds across the UK have been facing battles with the weather this month, with frozen pitches and harsh conditions needing constant attention.
Swansea’s match against Blackburn Rovers was at risk of postponement last week, with Wales hit especially hard by the weather.
Met Office issue warning for flooding
Several games are expected to fall within the impact zone of a new weather warning issued by the Met Office for Tuesday.
Yellow warnings for rain cover the south of England and Wales, covering much of London and reaching into Gloucester.
| League One – Tuesday | KO time |
| Cardiff City vs Barnsley | 19:45 |
| Plymouth Argyle vs Mansfield Town | 19:45 |
| Reading vs Exeter City | 20:00 |
The notice warns of potential flooding in the areas marked, with officials set to keep a close eye on the conditions ahead of Tuesday’s matches.
League One leaders Cardiff will host Barnsley at the Cardiff City Stadium, with the ground falling in the impact zone.
The Bluebirds will be hoping to get back to winning ways after they were held by Stockport last week.
Plymouth will also face the risk of postponement once again when they host Mansfield Town, as they look to build on their recent momentum.

Reading, who had a match called off earlier this month, will hope to avoid the same situation when they take on Exeter City inside the affected area.
More bad weather expected this week
Officials will likely be forced to keep monitoring conditions at football grounds around the stadium until better weather arrives in late February and March.
For the rest of this week, the forecast continues to promise rain across the country, with further warnings expected for the weekend.
In Birmingham, rain is expected every day this week except for Wednesday, and it’s a similar story in London.
In Manchester, lighter droplets are expected on Saturday, but the rest of the week is dominated by the rain. Those planning to travel to games should keep a close eye out for further announcements.
