Sources: Wycombe Wanderers submit bid for Exeter City's Jayden Wareham
Wycombe Wanderers have submitted a bid to sign Exeter City striker Jayden Wareham, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old scored 19 goals in League One last season as his side were relegated to the fourth tier.
He has emerged onto the radar of several second and third tier sides this summer, but Wycombe are the first club to make a concrete offer.
Michael Duff is keen to add a proven goalscorer to his squad as the Chairboys aim to stage a promotion push this season.
His side are yet to pick up a win in their opening three games of the campaign after a penalty loss to Reading in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.
It is unclear if Exeter will accept their opening offer for Wareham, who has started both of the Grecians' first two matches of the new season.
Wycombe make first bid for Jayden Wareham after stellar League One campaign
Wareham made his professional debut in 2020 for National League club Woking and impressed in his two-year spell at the club before earning a trial at Chelsea.
He was a regular scorer for the Blues' under-23 side after penning a two-year deal in May 2021, and experienced EFL football for the first time on loan at Leyton Orient during the 2022-23 season.
Wareham completed a move to Reading in 2023 after his Chelsea contract had expired, going on to score seven times in 55 appearances in the next two seasons.
Exeter signed him on a two-year deal last summer, and he won several Player of the Season awards in May after bagging 22 times in 55 games across all competitions.
Bristol City have reportedly held an interest in the 23-year-old this summer, but Wycombe are now the frontrunners after making an official offer.
Sheffield Wednesday agree deal to sign Kieran Morrison
Elsewhere in League One, sources have revealed to Football Insider that Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on a move to sign Liverpool starlet Morrison.
The Owls have fought off stern competition to agree a move for the Northern Ireland international, who trained with his new teammates on Wednesday morning.
Wycombe fans will hope to have Wareham's signature sealed before they face a Wednesday side with Morrison ready to make his mark on 1 September.
