‘Leeds and Burnley to check on Jamie Vardy signing after Leicester exit’
Leeds and Burnley are thought likely to investigate signing Jamie Vardy after it was confirmed he will leave Leicester in the summer.
Following Leeds’ nervy 2-1 win over Plymouth, the Yorkshire side edged out Scott Parker‘s Clarets to claim the Championship title but both are already confirmed for next term’s Premier League.
Whilst the Whites have dominated the second tier’s goal-scoring charts, there are uncertainties surrounding top-scorer Joel Piroe’s ability to translate his form to the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Burnley have broken records for their defensive solidity, but have found goals slightly harder to come by.
As a consequence, ex-Nottingham Forest ace Garry Birtles has tipped both clubs to have a “sneaky look” at adding Vardy to their squad this summer.

Jamie Vardy tipped for a move to Leeds or Burnley
Speaking on Peacock during Leicester’s bottom-of-the-table clash with Southampton, Birtles commented on Vardy’s ability to still perform at the top level after he gave the Foxes the lead.
The ex-Man United man said (3 May, 3.20pm): “Well he’s their top scorer, more assists than anybody else, so it just shows he can still be valuable to somebody in the Premier League.
“Now the teams coming up might have a little sneaky look and say ‘right, he’s still fit enough, the enthusiasm’s still there, why not?’”

Jamie Vardy can contribute to Leeds’ Premier League survival
Football Insider Verdict
Having netted eight goals and counting in a truly awful Leicester side this season, the ex-England international has proven himself capable of still being good enough for the Premier League.
The 38-year-old lacks the burst of pace that made him so feared, but that has been replaced with his smart positioning and underrated distribution.
Should Farke remain as Leeds manager, Vardy may be the perfect striker to add to his young squad.
With an average age of 25.4 years [transfermarkt], the forward would be an elder statesman of the squad, but that experience would be invaluable to a newly-promoted side.
Whilst he would not be the main man at Elland Road, having a striker with his goal-scoring instincts on the bench or starting occasionally would be a major boost for Farke.
