Leeds United’s confidence of signing Adam Forshaw from Middlesbrough has grown after Cardiff’s loan signing of Marko Grujic from Liverpool was confirmed, according to a reliable journalist.
LeedsLive reporter Tom Marshall-Bailey claimed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday that Cardiff’s swoop for the Premier League midfielder has paved the way for Leeds to sign Forshaw, 26, unopposed.
Football Insider had exclusively revealed that the Whites and their Championship rivals the Bluebirds had been contesting each other in the hunt to sign the Boro fringe player, but now Neil Warnock has completed a swoop for Grujic, 21, they are understood to have fell back in the running.

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie claimed on his personal Twitter account later in the day that the Elland Road club had opened talks with Boro over a swoop for the midfielder, who has failed to play a single minute since Tony Pulis took charge at the Riverside.
Football Insider verdict
Leeds look as though they may now be in a one-horse race to sign Forshaw – and that is definitely good news. There is not likely to be a bidding war with no other side credited with an interest in the Boro midfielder, so Thomas Christiansen looks like he will get his man once a bid is made. £2.5million may seem a lot for a fringe player, but Forshaw’s experience of playing in promotion winning sides must surely catch the eye. Leeds also need central midfielders with Eunan O’Kane banned for three games and Kalvin Phillips walking a suspension tightrope.
In other Leeds United news, this £1.5million Whites player is highly likely to leave Elland Road.
