Leeds could miss out on ‘top’ manager after Daniel Farke sack news

Leeds may miss the boat to bring in Ange Postecoglou to replace Daniel Farke with many top clubs keeping tabs on his availability.

Following a 3-1 victory over Chelsea on 3 December, sources told Football Insider that Farke has bought himself more time at Leeds.

Calls for Farke to be sacked as Leeds manager still rage on as the club consider bringing in a successor to steer the Yorkshire outfit away from the relegation zone.

Ex-Tottenham boss Postecoglou has been considered for the Leeds job, yet the decision from the board to stick with their current manager could ruin their chances of landing his services.

Ange Postecoglou in high demand as Farke set to be given more time

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Australian is once again without a job after being sacked by Nottingham Forest.

Sources told Football Insider that Postecoglou could return to the Premier League next summer, yet teams in need of a new manager need to make haste to snap up his services.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over the high demand for the 60-year-old, I explained: “He’s going to be popular amongst clubs if clubs are looking to change the manager because he’s one of the best free and available managers out there right now.

“We know he got a lot of flak at Tottenham, but he still won a trophy there. For me, he didn’t get the time to change things around at Nottingham Forest.

“Obviously, the club decided to part ways with him after a slow start to life at the City Ground.

“But, he’s a proven winner, he proved that up at Celtic, he brought a trophy to Tottenham and we’ve seen problems this season.

“For me, he’s still a top manager and that’s why he’s probably being linked with a number of these clubs who are maybe considering managerial changes.

“I think he won’t be rushing into anything and he’ll probably take his time where he decides he wants to continue his managerial career.”

Gary O’Neil also in running for Leeds gig

Whilst the Australian may be snapped up by the time the Whites come to a final decision on Farke, there are a whole host of other candidates in the running.

Former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Gary O’Neil is a leading contender for the Leeds job.

The ex-Bournemouth boss has been without a club since he was sacked by Wolves last season, but is the favourite to succeed the German at Elland Road.
