Leeds employee issues ‘massive’ claim – ‘make no mistake’

Noel Whelan has insisted Leeds United are firmly in the relegation scrap ahead of tonight’s (25 April) clash against Crystal Palace.

The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed “every game is like a cup final now” for Jesse Marsch’s side.

Leeds United head into the clash at Selhurst Park just four points clear of the Premier League drop zone after Burnley picked up back-to-back wins against Southampton and Wolves.

The Whites face consecutive tests against Man City, Arsenal, and Chelsea after tonight’s game.

Marsch has picked up 10 points in his first six games since succeeding Marcelo Bielsa in February.

Whelan suggested this evening’s match is a must-win as Leeds United look to restore a points buffer to the bottom three after their two-week break.

“It was a very important game even before the Burnley wins,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“We knew we were still in a scrap, we knew we weren’t out of it. Everything can always turn around very, very quickly – especially at the bottom of the table.

“We need to get the job done and come away with all three points. Yes, it will be nervous – but every game is like a cup final now.

“It is now a massive, high-pressure game, and make no mistake – Premier League survival is at stake.”
