Leeds fans ecstatic as ‘top talent’ set for medical: ‘We’re in for a treat’

Leeds United are on the verge of completing their first senior signing of the January transfer window.

Daniel Farke’s side have been resurgent in recent weeks, with a seven-game unbeaten run across December helping to put daylight between themselves and the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Leeds loaned Harry Gray out to Rotherham earlier this week, and much of their winter window so far has been about players heading out of the door at Elland Road.

However, that now looks set to change imminently, with a medical booked in ahead of a new arrival for the West Yorkshire outfit.

Facundo Buonanotte agrees to join Leeds United on loan

Facundo Buonanotte has struggled for gametime at Chelsea during his loan spell in the first half of the campaign, and Leeds are set to take advantage of that in the mid-season window.

The Brighton attacker is set to be recalled by his parent club and then loaned out again to Elland Road, after the two parties reached an agreement for his transfer on Thursday.

The Argentine is set to undergo a medical at Leeds imminently according to Fabrizio Romano, with a deal now appearing inevitable for the Whites.

Buonanotte has notched just one Premier League appearance for Chelsea this season, but excelled last year despite suffering relegation with Leicester City, as he hit five goals and two assists for the Foxes.

Leeds fans are already ecstatic at their imminent new signing, with one supporter suggesting on X that he and his fellow fans are “in for a treat” if Buonanotte can make a strong start to his loan spell, while another labelled him a “top talent.”

Another fan branded the Whites’ move as “great business,” while it has also been referred to as a “brilliant signing.”

Buonanotte came within a whisker of joining Leeds in the summer

Leeds seemingly had a move for Buonotte secure in the latter stages of the summer transfer window, before the attacking midfielder opted for a last-minute switch to Chelsea instead.

The youngster angered the Whites’ faithful with that particular decision, but several of the fans are glad to see that he has now realised the misjudgement that he made.

Buonanotte never really got a look in at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca, and that was always likely to happen, given the unprecedented depth that the Blues have in their squad.

However, at Leeds, he will likely come in and take on a significant involvement for a team that truly want him on their side, and feel that he can make a difference for them.

Some supporters have shown frustration again at his decision to choose Chelsea over them in the summer, but that will soon be forgotten about if he gets off to a good start.
