‘Sickens me’, ‘Joke’, ‘Clueless’ – Leeds fans go berserk over one Heck decision for clash v QPR

Leeds United fans have gone berserk on Twitter after Paul Heckingbottom decided to start Caleb Ekuban up front against QPR.

In the final Championship game of the season, Heckingbottom has decided to overlook the chance to start exciting teenagers like Sam Dalby or Ryan Edmondson and has instead opted to play Ekuban, who has been in horrendous form as of late.

Leeds announced their team news via the club’s official Twitter account ahead of kick-off at Elland Road on Saturday, but supporters were less than pleased.

Ekuban has scored just two goals in 20 appearances across all competitions for Leeds this season.

The 24-year-old has made 11 starts in the Championship, but has still been able to score just the once in England’s second-tier.

In a game that is effectively meaningless for both sides, fans feel as though Heckingbottom had the chance to experiment and they are furious that the ex-Barnsley manager failed to name one of the youngsters up front.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Leeds have really struggled to have a consistent goalscorer this season with Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s form being very inconsistent while Kemar Roofe and Ekuban have also been futile in attack.

It’s clear that Chris Wood wasn’t replaced well enough in the summer and the club will surely have to make it a top priority in the coming months to find a new centre-forward.
