'Full Mourinho', 'Clueless' - Leeds fans mock Brentford figure after bizarre claim
Leeds United fans have taken to social media to poke fun at Brentford manager Dean Smith for his bizarre excuse that the Elland Road grass was too long in his side’s 1-0 defeat.
The Whites secured their first win of 2018, their first victory in 11 games across all competitions in a streak which stretched back to Boxing Day, thanks to Liam Cooper’s first half header, the centre back also helping keep a clean sheet at the other end.
Instead of accepting defeat, the Bees’ boss reeled off a list of excuses as to why his team were unable to secure a point or more, including blaming the standard of refereeing as well as suggesting Cooper’s goal was offside.
However it was his claim that the Whites had tried to grow the grass out to a length which would slow play down and benefit the home team which had the Whites faithful reacting on Twitter, although they were too busy making fun of the 46-year-old to complain.
Dean Smith complaining about the length of the grass (too long) and saying Cooper's goal was offside, while admitting that Brentford were poor in the second half. #lufc

Normally would just RT but need to be seen together. Dean Smith has gone full Mourinho. Didn't play well, quickly say something to distract from not playing well. #lufc #MOT pic.twitter.com/DWTc6P5Qg0

Makes it an even better win knowing how salty Dean Smith is. Blaming the length of the grass then saying the ref was biased towards Leeds. Clueless freak???? #lufc

Leeds’ win puts them one point and one place behind 10th placed Brentford, and are now just five points off the play off spots after Cardiff City secured a 1-0 win over Bristol City, who are currently in sixth.
