‘Legend’, ‘Come back’ – Leeds fans react to Luciano Becchio’s Twitter message
By Harvey Byrne
Leeds fans on Twitter have hailed former striker Luciano Becchio after he shared that he had changed his profile picture of himself in the Yorkshire giants’ colours.
The now 33-year-old is currently playing in the Spanish third level with CD Atletico Baleares.
But, it is clear that he still holds an affinity to Leeds, where he was a part of the team for five years between 2008 and 2013 and on Saturday the forward shared a message on his personal Twitter account, which translates to “new profile picture” of himself playing for the club.
Becchio scored 86 goals in 219 appearances during his time at Leeds and built up a good rapport with fans as well.
Those supporters still hold him in high regards and many were keen to air their joy at the Becchio picture change.
A number hailed him as a”legend”, while others even asked him to return to the club.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Leeds currently boast star Chris Wood upfront, who finished as the top scorer in the Championship last season, so they aren’t short of goals.
However, as Becchio nears the final stages of his playing career it is clear that fans would appreciated if he returned in a coaching capacity.
