Leeds fans react on Twitter to Cooper display v Reading

By Dominic Toner

Liam Cooper completed 90 minutes in the defeat against Reading – and the club’s supporters delivered a scathing verdict on Twitter about his performance.

The 25-year-old retained his place in the starting line-up and was unable to prevent his side suffer a 1-0 loss on Saturday evening.

Reading striker Yann Kermorgant opened the scoring in the first-half with a brilliant instinctive striker and that was enough to clinch the three points for the hosts.

The Whites missed the opportunity to move up to third in the Championship and stay fourth, instead.

Leeds fans highlighted the display of defender Cooper during the game and were frustrated with his efforts.

The centre-back was also involved in an incident where his boots made contact Reece Oxford’s head, something that could be looked at after the match.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Leeds slipped down to fifth as a result of their defeat and it means they are only six points above seventh.

The Yorkshire giants have been in the promotion picture for the majority of the season and will be desperate to secure a play-off spot.

Garry Monk’s side were unbeaten in seven games prior to the Reading clash and will now be looking to respond against Brentford on Tuesday night.

Jaap Stam’s Reading managed to avenge the 2-0 defeat from the previous meeting with Leeds this season and the two clubs could renew their rivalry in the play-offs at the end of the season.
