Leeds fans react on Twitter to major blow regarding key player ahead of Bristol City clash
By Amir Mir
Pontus Jansson is a major doubt for Leeds’ Championship clash against Bristol City next Tuesday – and fans on Twitter are worried about his absence from the team.
Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay reported Monk as saying on his personal Twitter account on Saturday evening that Jansson “phoned in sick this morning” and is “doubtful” for the game against City in three days’ time.
The loss of Jansson for a second consecutive league match would be a major blow to Monk’s side.
Without Jansson, his team were beaten 2-0 at home against Welsh outfit Cardiff which briefly stalled their promotion charge in the Championship.
His regular centre-back partner Kyle Bartley was partnered by Liam Cooper in defence as captain Liam Bridcutt was shown two yellow cards during the defeat.
Fans on Twitter expressed their worry as they were hoping that the club were not covering anything up about the Sweden international.
One supporter stated that the match against Lee Johnson’s side in midweek will be massive, while another believes without their star defender they have no chance of winning.
Furthermore, another fan was hoping he will be ready for that match so he can play with the likes of Mo Barrow and Kemar Roofe.
Overall, the Elland Road faithful were beginning to think there maybe something else to the Jansson situation.

Jansson has played 24 Championship, EFL Cup and FA Cup matches for Leeds this season, scoring three goals during those games.
He has been an integral figure in Monk’s side pushing for promotion since he arrived on loan from Italian outfit Torino in the summer.
