Leeds fans react on Twitter to Garry Monk sending off against Huddersfield

Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter after Garry Monk was sent to the stands late on during his side’s 2-1 loss to Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.

Monk, 37, was dismissed after Huddersfield scored a late winner through Michael Hefele, prompting manager David Wagner to celebrate by entering Leeds’ technical area.

However, Monk then blocked his rival manager off which caused a huge confrontation. Wagner was also sent to the stands, while three yellow cards were brandished to Elias Kachunga, Pontus Jansson and Liam Bridcutt.

After the brawl calmed down, referee Simon Hooper decided to give both managers their marching orders. It is the second time Monk has been sent to the stands, after being dismissed against Bristol City earlier in the season.

Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to Monk’s sending off, with many believing Wagner had been more deserving off Hooper’s treatment instead of the former Swansea manager.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The loss to Huddersfield sees Leeds remain six points away from the Championship’s automatic promotion places, and now sit in fifth place.

Monk will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways against Cardiff on Saturday at Elland Road, as they look to maintain their promotion push to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2003-04.
