Leeds fans react on Twitter as Neil Redfearn returns to management with shock club
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that their former manager Neil Redfearn has returned to management with a shock club.
Women’s team Doncaster Belles announced that they have hired Redfearn, 52, on their official Twitter account on Friday afternoon, bringing to an end an absence of almost two years from management.
It’s a move that has taken Leeds fans by surprise as so rarely do managers from the mens’ game switch over to the womens’.
Redfearn has certainly done the rounds at Yorkshire clubs in his management career.
He has three spells as caretaker manager at Elland Road before getting the gig permanently in 2014, however it did not last long before Massimo Cellino showed him the door.
The ex-Barnsley played was then hired by Rotherham in 2015, where he only lasted four months.
Now he is going to try his luck in the FAWSL 2 with the Donny Belles, and Leeds fans are delighted for their former boss to make such a left-field move.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Doncaster Belles are currently top of the FAWSL 2 table and are unbeaten in their first six games of the season.
His first game in charge will be against Watford Ladies FC in just over a weeks’ time.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in the hunt for this highly-rated forward after his club, who won a European league title last season, gave him the green light to leave in January.
