Leeds fans urge Monk to recall 24-year-old for showdown against Cardiff

Kemar Roofe has been given the all clear to play for Leeds against Cardiff – and fans have taken to Twitter to urge Garry Monk to reinstate him in the starting XI.

Monk revealed at his media conference on Thursday that Roofe, 24, is in contention to play in Saturday’s showdown at Elland Road.

The manager explained that a scan on the attacking midfielder’s injured rib had shown no significant damage and he will be fit for the fixture against the team managed by ex-Elland Road boss Neil Warnock.

Leeds fans are delighted at the availability of Roofe, who many claim was sorely missed in last Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield.

Many took to social media ahead of Saturday’s encounter to urge Monk to recall Roofe and play him in one of the three attacking roles behind centre-forward Chris Wood.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Roofe has overcome a difficult start at Leeds to become an increasingly important member of the promotion hopefuls’ team.

He has started 19 of the club’s 30 league matches this season as well as another five games in cup competitions and, in total, has made 35 appearances for Monk’s side.

The former Oxford player has scored three goals and supplied six assists, with all the strikes coming in the Championship.
